Garbage Collection Billing (Finance Department)
Collections

Residential customers receive once a year on their property tax bill a solid waste collection/curbside recycling collection charge. Garbage and recycling must be at the curb no later than 7:00 am on collection days. Commercial customers receive garbage collection and recycling collection independently.

During the City of Wixom’s recent budget process, the method in which we charge for solid waste/recycling has been modified.  This change reduces the City’s solid waste budget and saves us approximately $14,000 annually.  In prior billing periods, RRRASOC submitted the bi-annual solid waste/recycling bills to each homeowner through a separate billing. These bills were mailed in July and January of each year.

Beginning on July 1, 2010, the City of Wixom will no longer utilize this billing method and will begin placing the solid waste/recycling fee on each homeowners summer property tax bill in the amount of $155 per home or the reduced rate of $110 if qualified for hardship.

This change also affects condominium owners in which bills were previously routed to your condominium association for payment.  Condominium property tax bills will now include the fee.  All condominium associations have been notified of this change so they can take any action required on their part.

If you have any questions, please contact us at the Finance Department, Monday through Thursday, 7:15 AM to 5:30 PM at (248) 624-0885.

HHWD allows residents to bring chemicals, oil based paints and a variety of other toxic products for disposal at no charge! We now even include paper shredding.

The City of Wixom is part of the RRRASOC community RRRASOC , so though the City of Wixom DPW hosts a HHWD there are several others that you can attend at no charge!
